Grizzly

Grizzly Griptape began as a simple idea from Torey Pudwill when he was just 12 years old. Much like Shake Junt, it started as a grip tape brand created for Pudwill and his friends. Before the grip took off, Torey was molding skateboard wax into bear-shaped cutouts using a mold his father had made in their workshop. The Pudwill family began producing the grip tape in-house, hand-packing it and selling it to local skate shops. During his time riding for Shorty’s, Torey would receive boxes of Black Magic grip, punch out the signature bear cutout at home, and repackage it for sale. Eventually, he brought the idea to Nicholas Diamond, founder of Diamond Supply Co., and pitched the concept of teaming up to create a grip tape company. Diamond was on board, and Grizzly Griptape became part of the Diamond Supply family. Today, Grizzly is right up there with brands like Mob and Shake Junt, sponsoring some of the most well-known skaters in the world, including Jack Curtin, Chris Joslin, Boo Johnson, and Kelly Hart. Grizzly has also collaborated with other brands like Diamond Supply and Glassy Eyewear, expanding from a homegrown operation to a widely recognized lifestyle brand with its own line of eyewear.
