Never Summer

In 1983, brothers Tim and Tracey Canaday started producing snowboards with the help of Scott Rolfs. At 14 years old, Tim Tracey began shaping snowboards in his highschool woodworking class in Fort Collins, CO. After establishing their company “Swift Snowboards”, the Canadays had to take a hiatus from producing boards after finding Swift to be unsuccessful. They have since developed boards like the Never Summer Proto, the Never Summer Nokhu and the Never Summer Snowtrooper.  As it turns out, the Canadays were ahead of their time as when they made their return in 1991 when snowboarding had picked up some traction with the new name Never Summer, and relocating to Denver in 1993, Never Summer found its niche and began to gain popularity as one of the earliest snowboard innovators. Throughout the years, Never Summer continued to face rising demands for their boards, struggling to keep up their supply. However, after expanding their manufacturing resources, Never Summer has rebounded and has kept their spot as one of the few remaining independent snowboard brands. Offering free tours of their manufacturing quarters, Never Summer prides themselves on transparent production practices and quality craftsmanship. As one of the earliest board innovators, Never Summer has been responsible for core aspects of modern boards we cherish today including the P-Tex sidewall and many modern day tail shapes we see today. With partnerships with small Colorado businesses like Breckenridge Brewery and brands like Grassroots illustrate how Never Summer remains as the most authentic indy snowboarding brand in the industry.

For over three decades, Never Summer Industries has remained at the forefront of snowboard innovation, becoming one of the most respected brands in the industry. Founded in 1991 by brothers Tim and Tracey Canaday, the company was born out of a passion for snowboarding and a desire to push the boundaries of the sport. Starting from humble beginnings in a Denver garage, Never Summer quickly made a name for itself by focusing on high-quality craftsmanship and groundbreaking technology. Today, the company continues to design, build, and produce all of its snowboards in Denver, Colorado, ensuring that each board reflects the expertise and dedication that has driven the brand since day one.

Never Summer’s reputation is built on its relentless commitment to progression. The brand was the first to patent hybrid camber technology, which has since become a standard in the snowboard industry. This pioneering spirit is further reflected in innovations such as the Triple Camber Profile and Carbon VXR Laminate, which have set new standards for performance, precision, and versatility. These technologies are just a few examples of the advanced design features that make Never Summer snowboards highly sought after by intermediate to expert riders who value craftsmanship and durability.

Never Summer boards are designed with serious snowboarders in mind—those who demand top-tier performance whether they’re carving through powder, charging steep lines, or hitting the park. The brand’s flagship technologies, like the Vario Power Grip Sidecut and RDS 2 Damping System, enhance edge hold, control, and stability, providing an ultra-smooth ride in all conditions. Their Durasurf XT Sintered 5501 Base adds to the boards' speed and durability, while the Carbonium Topsheet reinforces the board’s strength without adding extra weight. All of these innovations contribute to making Never Summer one of the premier brands in snowboarding.

While Never Summer’s boards are often priced at a premium, they deliver unparalleled performance and durability, making them a worthwhile investment for advanced riders who prioritize quality. From their top-of-the-line materials to their cutting-edge designs, every board they produce is made to last and perform at the highest level. For those looking to take their riding to new heights, Never Summer remains a go-to brand, offering riders gear that matches their ambitions on the mountain.
